Learning Objectives
- Recognizing scale degrees and intervals through functional ear training
- Understanding the importance of DO, MI, SO, and TI
- Mastering the "Five Baroque Keys"
- Identifying major and minor sonorities, modulations, and cadences
- Recognizing time signatures, common musical beginnings and endings, sequence patterns, and the "rule of three"
- Strategies for learning music by ear
- Using digital tools to support and enhance ongoing learning
The repertoire
We will begin with easy children's songs and progress to simple pieces by Bach and Mozart.
Who is this course for?
This course is geared toward teens and adults with a basic understanding of either soprano or alto recorder; you should know the fingerings for the full two octaves of your instrument. The ability to read music is not necessary and poor sight readers are encouraged to enrol.

Course Details
- Schedule: Saturdays, 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM PT (click here for local time) over Zoom*
- Duration: October 5 to November 30 (8 weeks) - THERE WILL BE NO CLASS ON NOVEMBER 9
- Voice: Either soprano or alto recorder
- Class Size: Limited to 10 participants for personalized attention
